It was a sad day for all of us when the news came down the pipeline that the Casavir Romance project had been cancelled. Therefore, it is with much excitement that TyroScribe and the SRM team now announce the mod is officially uncancelled! As it turns out, TyroScribe’s mod was never supposed to be cancelled. Due to real-life circumstances, she was unable to communicate with the SRM community and, after a year, the team assumed the worst. Fortunately, all that is behind us now and the future of the Casavir Romance mod is bright!

For those of you who don’t know, Casavir Romance is being developed by TyroScribe, writer, academic, self-confessed geek, and, of course, a video game enthusiast with a love of RPG series such as Fable, Neverwinter Nights, and Dragon Age. It was Bishop and Casavir, beloved characters from Neverwinter Nights 2, that ultimately drew her to Skyrim Romance. As an established fan of Casavir, she quickly found herself wanting to romance him over Bishop, which sparked the desire to create a mod dedicated to Casavir.

Though working with a small team of writers and voice actors, the majority of the project is being developed single-handedly by TyroScribe. She’s been reluctant to give a release date, but estimates the mod is approximately 85% complete and hopes to release within the next year. For those of you anxious to play this mod as soon as possible, TyroScribe is currently looking after writers for child scripts and audio editors. In the meantime, there is much to look forward to!

Casavir Romance: A Paladin’s Tale is an intriguing story centered around the Paladin Order and woven alongside the major arcs of the game. Once tasked with keeping the peace in Skyrim, the Paladin Order has fallen into ruin and must be restored. With the Thalmor on the rise, the resurgence of dragons, and the threat of the civil war, the paladins are needed now more than ever. Alongside Casavir, the player will become a paladin and embark on an adventure to rebuild the Order, unveil secrets of past eras, make battle with mighty foes, and help Casavir find closure from his mysterious and painful past, all while falling in love with the gallant paladin.

The player can expect the same kinds of beloved experiences they had in Skyrim Romance, including attending a ball and picking out a gown, an engagement and marriage to Casavir, adopting custom children, and a new player home. Speaking of the new home, it’s a castle! The player will be charged with restoring it to its former glory, a new home for the player and her family, and for the Paladin Order. The player will also meet a colorful cast of characters, including the Knights of the Nine from Oblivion and new variations of Aribeth from Neverwinter Nights and Cullen from the Dragon Age series, all woven seamlessly into the plot.

As for the man himself, A Paladin’s Tale builds upon the Casavir we remember from Skyrim Romance in the way that he is both virtuous and committed to his duty, and expands to reveal a brave, loyal, and passionate person who is troubled by his past. As the son of a noble family, Casavir is diplomatic, stoic, knowledgeable of proper etiquette, and well-trained in the arts. He is a musician, a poet, and avid learner. Yet in spite of his social upbringing, Casavir has little experience in matters of the heart. While the player can expect him to be as passionate and dedicated in his romantic pursuits as he is with his duty, it is important to keep in mind that the paladin has been hurt before.

Casavir has undergone some cosmetic changes as well, with a new custom appearance and a new voice actor that really sets him apart from the sweet, albeit rejected character from Skyrim Romance. Eric Peterson, who has worked among the Skyrim community before, will be the voice of Casavir, and TyroScribe has nothing but praises to sing of his talent and dedication.

The mod looks and sounds amazing, and it is a pleasure to reassure the community that it is still in development and coming soon. There is so much to be excited about in the coming months so stay tuned!
