In this post you’ll get to know the charming chieftain, Cael, and ‘Forbidden Love’, the largely anticipated mod that allows you to delve into the world of the Rudahan tribe and experience a one of a kind romance with our favourite forsworn!

(Please note this post may contain spoilers if you have not yet played through the Skyrim Romance mod!)

His Story

Months before Markarth was invaded by the Stormcloak army, Cael was born. Unfortunately, due to the invasion, his family would no longer be safe residing there. With the help of Maddox, Cael and his mother fled whilst his father stayed to ensure they would not be harmed. 

Cael, his mother, and Maddox were taken in by the Rudahan tribe. Cael was raised by his mother with a proper education, which, in turn, lead to his strong passion and fascination for Skyrim and all it’s lore, myths, and legends. This passion soon developed into a longing in him to discover all that Skyrim had to offer. 

Later on, his mother devastatingly passed from a disease, leaving Cael heartbroken at his loss. It wasn’t until a turn of events that Maddox had revealed to Cael about how he was truly born a forsworn. He was raised by the entire tribe being taught how to hunt and to defend himself. The chieftain, who had no children, saw something in Cael and decided to train him to become future chieftain of the tribe.

Due to the aforementioned chieftain succumbing to an illness, Cael was forced to inherit the role at a mere age of 17. He has ruled and protected the tribe for almost a decade, always keeping in mind his mother’s teachings.   

The Rudahan Tribe

The Rudahan tribe is led by the fierce, passionate, yet gentle, Cael. It is located deep inside the great wilds of the Reach, isolated from the rest of skyrim in their unique style of life, and having many ancient secrets and mysteries that shall be revealed in the Forbidden Love mod as the Dragonborn builds a closer connection to the tribe.

Encountering Cael 

In earlier versions of the Skyrim Romance mod, Cael is initially encountered by being trapped in a cage just within the Markarth city walls, where the Dragonborn may choose to engage in a conversation with him. Cael will reveal he is trapped and is going to be executed because of his status as a forsworn, and offers the Dragonborn the choice of freeing him from being held captive or to simply leave him to his fate.

However, in the latest version of Skyrim romance, Cael is encountered along with two other forsworn, Robin and Anu, at a roadside shrine of Dibella in the Reach. The Dragonborn will overhear a conversation between the three discussing the shrine and potential targets. Yet again, the Dragonborn can engage in a conversation with Cael, after which he will give the player a white and blue amulet of Dibella.

Forbidden Love

If you enjoyed Skyrim Romance then you are going to love Forbidden love, an upcoming, enormous skyrim mod project created by Mara and her team. This mod will feature the Reach’s Raven himself, Cael, and the story of the passionate bond that builds between he and the Dragonborn.

As stated, this mod was conceived by the talented Mara and written by our very own Christian Gaughf – the voice of Cael – as well as the other members of the writing team. The rest is filled in by the talented modders helping to build the worldspace and the other skilled actors giving each character a voice. The mod introduces a plethora of new features such as, but not limited to: custom dialogue, new characters, epic boss battles, all new outfits and creatures, custom music and so much more, making this mod truly a cut from a different cloth.
