Karnwyr Reborn – Creative Journey

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!  I wanted to show everyone one of my latest projects.  Karnwyr Reborn!

So this project started a few weeks ago I was reviewing all of the permissions in the mod when I noticed that I had not heard from the author of True Wolves for permission to use the texture and mesh for Karnwyr in the mod.  It was disappointing but I refused to give up and use only Skyrim’s ugly wolf mesh.

It doesn’t look like a wolf to me.  So I started to do some research on the majestic timber wolf!  I loved the color in the fur and how beautiful each wolf looked.

So I asked my mesh artist Peri if she could help me take Skyrim’s vanilla wolf mesh and make it look like a real timber wolf.  She asked me for some direction, so I began to make a diagram of what I was looking for.

It was a LOT of changes but she began right away editing the original Skyrim’s wolf to match my diagram.

Her Results!

Wow!  She does such great work.  Now to see what those changes look like in game.

Looking better already!

Next is my favorite part because it’s time to start to create Karnwyr’s new texture.  I began to create Karnwyr’s fur and got the help of graphic artist Nehsta to help me construct the texture.

Look at how realistic that is!  Now time to fix those teeth.  I asked Peri to reduce and straighten the fangs on the mesh.

My next schematic was to focus on the eyes and face of Mr.Wolf.

With the strength of the pack, determination and talent Karnwyr was REBORN!!!! (Fleas included)

Logged in just to say WOW! Karnwyr looks absolutely amazing! He is adorable, realistic, and about a million times better than normal in-game wolfie. Just love the new look. I just want to cuddle him! 🙂

I follow the author of True Wolves on LoversLab because she was keeping people up to date on the updated version of her wolf race mod she’s working on on a forum there. Even we haven’t heard from her since christmas. We hope she’s okay 🙁 When she returns though, I’m sure she will be okay with you using her mod though 😀

OMG, WOW! Karnwyr looks so amazing! I’m seriously looking forward to the release. <3 This is going to one of my favorite parts of the new version of SRM. Next to the ballroom and ballgowns. <3 I'm so excited. I'd say 'I can't wait' but I definitely can wait for such an amazing update. <3 So worth the wait. Thank you so much, Mara for you hard work in putting together the mod. You are making so many people happy (also a bit upset at the wait time(but don't worry about that)). I love you and hope you're getting much needed personal time as I would assume this is all being done on your personal time. <3 Again thank you! Please take care. <3

I cant contact with True Wolves’ author either, I asked them if there was going to be a SSE convert, no reply ever lol xD. (Turns outs True Wolves texture and Lola DOES work with SSE in case anybody else wanted to know :)) Anyway, I don’t know the exact extreme, or penalty, of using the texture; even though Karnwry is technically a named “character” he’s still just a wolf in my eyes, but that’s my opinion on that lol. I do like this look but he looks more wolf-“dogish” lol which isn’t a bad thing, don’t get me wrong you all have done amazing work and I really do like him!:D It will not change my decision to play the mod, I just think it will be funny when I have my wolf follower with the texture next to Karnwyr and it’ll be like “so what kind of wolf are you” xD SO very excited for 3.0 and great job you guys!! <3

So nice and interesting to read all this! Wish you do more posts about creation prosess. Mod making is alien to me, so each detail fascinates. Thank you for putting so much effort to this work!
Karnwyr is totally a beautiful beast now thanks to you, he looks so fluffy and realistic 😀
I remember finding him for a first time, he then looked and sounded like a sceever so I immediately left him behind. Not going to happen now! (Also makes me happy for already having ‘true wolf howling’ mod). Travelling with Karnwyr certainly would be a nice experience 😀
