Being a dude, and hearing about Hunt for Love and getting genuinely excited for it, I wondered how many others were compelled to check out the site. Was it an obscure event? Am I the only one?

As a sidenote, I’ve always been slightly fascinated by this mod and it’s community. It’s like a singularity of disgruntled people who want a companion that’s not a chick with boobs as big as her head. It’s also what I consider to be basically the complete opposite of that entire side of the modding community. Like if you took the developer of pretty cardboard cutout #789 and retroactively turned them into a girl I’m 90% sure this is where they’d be, and that’s amazing.

I think it did, I remember trying to get to the forums webpage about a week ago, and the website kept giving me a 404 error page. I doubt it was an obscure event though. When 3.0 was announced and finally released, the website crashed completely from all the traffic. This mod’s extremely well-known, and in some circles it’s infamous.

And honestly, I agree with you. The mod was inspired by those same people, in response to all the follower mods who look like porn-stars and use vanilla voices, it’s like they have no originality or life to them. This whole community is a hodge podge of people from different backgrounds, mod authors and mod users alike.

I’ve been a sideline fan of this mod for about a couple years now, it’s part of the reason why I’ve stayed. It’s very welcoming and close-knit.

I knew it was big, I didn’t know it was 404-a-page big.

This may seem like a bit of a non-sequitur, but what do you think the ratio is between male and female users on this site is? I imagine the ratio is heavily skewed given the focus of the entire mod, and the general focus of the forum posts, but the fact that Hunt for Love is even being developed makes me think that either a new mod team was inspired to make it, it was in response to demand on the nexus/the skyrim romance peeps just being cool in general, or there’s a larger amount of dudes than I originally thought involved in all this. TBH I don’t really know what the mod team structure looks like. Is Hunt for Love being developed by the same people?

I think part of their fame came from Grim Boozed’s series of an older version of the mod (2.0), though oddly enough I found this through my YouTube recommendations.

I’d say it’s 50/50. I’m mostly a lurker, contributing every once in awhile. But the discord server we have includes some of the original voice actors from the mod, as well as fans of the mods, and of course, the mod’s writers and authors, Mara the creator included.

And yep! Hunt for Love is being made by the same team. The SRM team has a couple of projects that they’re working on. Specifically, they’re working/planning on making separate romance mods for both of SRM’s main love interests. SRM was about Bishop, and that one is complete as of update 3.1. You might have heard about Forbidden Love, that one’s about Cael the Forsworn chief. Hunt for Love has only just revealed their main characters, so there’s still the matter of voice actor casting, writing, etc. I feel like both are going at the same pace.

A separate team is working on a romance mod for Casavir the Paladin, but I haven’t heard any updates from it in awhile.

    Hi, Richard!

Hunt For Love is actually being made by a different team, though still under the guidance of Mara and with some of the same contributors to SRM and Forbidden Love.

If you haven’t already done so, you should definitely check out the SRM community on the Discord server! A lot of mod updates for both Forbidden Love and Hunt For Love are published there first, as well as offering more direct interaction with the developers of each.

I’m glad you’re excited about Hunt For Love! As Lead Writer, I hope we’re able to take you on an adventure you won’t soon forget!

    Cheers!
    Lottie
